Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in Bielefeld & Online
In my work, I use approaches from cognitive behavioural therapy, depth-oriented therapy and systemic therapy, depending on what is helpful in the moment.
CBT is generally considered the treatment of choice for a broad range of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, phobia, PTSD, OCD and addiction – and many other issues.
CBT helps clients identify and restructure negative thought patterns and change unhelpful behaviours through structured sessions, practical exercises and skill-building.
CBT is highly effective as a short-term, structured treatment
CBT focuses on addressing present-day problems, modifying negative thought patterns and changing behaviour to improve mental health.
At the same time, therapy does not need to feel rushed or mechanical. Depending on the situation, sessions may also include reflection, emotional awareness and a calmer exploration of underlying patterns.
Many of my clients notice a significant inner stabilisation and a sense of regained emotional control after just a few sessions. CBT can also be particularly helpful for managing acute issues and crises.
If you are currently feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, low or stressed, or if you are facing behavioural issues that interfere with daily functioning, relationships or overall quality of life, then CBT could be the right choice for you.
CBT is likely the right therapy for you if:
You want to actively change negative thought patterns and behaviour
CBT operates on the principle that changing dysfunctional thinking patterns leads to improved emotions and actions. By learning new ways of responding to difficult situations, you will be able to reach sustainable improvements in emotional regulation and resilience.
You seek a structured and focused approach and prefer short-term treatment
CBT focuses on solving current problems by modifying unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours, following a consistent, structured format. It is highly collaborative and evidence-based. Many people experience noticeable improvement within just a few sessions.
You want to learn practical tools and coping skills to manage your daily life and you are committed to completing "homework" between sessions
CBT "homework" reinforces awareness, clarity, more balanced thinking and behaviour change between sessions. You will learn how to track automatic thoughts, test beliefs and practice techniques to manage distress.
